Quaint and unassuming, this musty bookstore in downtown Lincolnton, NC held copies of three E. B. White classics including... Charlotte's Web. I was on the look-out for a broken-in version when I just happened to spy the shop on an un-related visit to the small town, 50 miles northwest of Charlotte.

  1. Will never forget the summer I read Charlotte's Web...must have been 8 or 9. I fell in love with Charlotte (she is so witty, intelligent and sensitive), which prevented me from fearing spiders as a child and as an adult! I think I also connected it with our mother telling us that our Oma, her mother, would say that spiders in the house were "good luck." To this day, I never step on or harm spiders in the house, and if they make me uncomfortable, I carefully "escort" them out the door.
